We are Sam and Hannah Richards, the husband-and-wife team behind Naked. Sam is a fine furniture and cabinet maker, and Hannah is an interior designer with a background in architecture. We met while working together on a project and have been together ever since. Our work has been primarily in the luxury residential market in New York, the UK, and around Europe. We are both passionate about beautiful design that doesn’t sacrifice sustainability, and we grew increasingly disheartened at the separation between our projects and our passions.
In our professions we frequently encounter toxic substances, finishes, and fabrics. When it comes to home furnishings, there are not enough conversations about sustainability, where things come from, where waste goes, and how we can find better alternatives to the toxic substances that are used to make things. There are not enough conversations about the health of the people who make products and the health of the end consumer.
We want to see an end to chemicals in our home and yours. We believe beauty, luxury, and sustainability are inherently one. You shouldn’t have to choose between a beautiful home and a healthy home. Everyone deserves a home that is beautiful AND non-toxic, and we want to see this become the norm instead of an alternative.
We aim to be a zero-waste business and we only use recyclable and/or compostable packaging, which you can read more about on the Shipping & packaging page. You can also read more about where our products come from and why we choose them on the Sourcing page.
